Vinyasa Yoga Training Maastricht - What will you learn?

During our vinyasa yoga training, you'll analyze yoga poses, experience them deeply, and observe poses of fellow students, learning more about your own body and that of others. Based on the principles of vinyasa yoga, you'll use our smart tools to create vinyasa yoga classes that are both safe and varied. You'll learn to move to the rhythm of your own energy and delve into your own vinyasa of life.

By studying yoga philosophy and integrating it, you'll learn how to translate this ancient wisdom to the yoga mat in the here and now. The meditation and breathing techniques you'll learn will enrich your own practice and the classes you'll teach. Our personal development program will give you greater insight into who you are and want to be, both as a person and as a yoga teacher. This way, you'll learn to inspire others based on your own experience.

This 200-hour vinyasa yoga training from Yoga Nature Studio in Maastricht provides a solid foundation for your development as a vinyasa yoga teacher.

Prana and the vayus - basis of vinyasa

You'll learn to understand the definition and five principles of vinyasa and apply them to your own practice, as well as your daily life. You'll learn to work with prana, life energy, and experience the five vayus, the directions of energy movement, in yoga poses. You'll gain insight into how to work with energy, both within your own body and as a teacher, teaching a group. Knowledge of breathing and the bandhas, the body's intrinsic support system, will provide a safe and stable foundation for every yoga class you teach. By embodying prana and the vayus, you'll experience more flow and energy in your own life.

Asana alignment & Hands-on assists

You'll analyze and explore yoga postures (asanas) in a structured and logical way. This will give you insight into how to guide students safely and effectively, helping them get more out of their yoga practice. You'll learn how to modify postures for beginners and how to manage common injuries. You'll also learn the basic hands-on techniques of the most common asanas, enabling you to guide your students even more effectively during their practice.

Pranayama, Meditation & Mindfulness

Pranayama, meditation, and mindfulness are an important part of your daily yoga practice. You'll also be trained in these, allowing you to experience ever-deepening progress on your own yoga path. Meditation and mindfulness are valuable techniques that allow you to guide people on a deeper level. This also teaches you to teach with intention and inspiration.

Anatomy & Physiology

You'll gain a solid foundation in the anatomy and physiology of the body and learn how to apply this knowledge in your lessons. This brings anatomy to life, and you'll use your knowledge of the musculoskeletal system to guide people more specifically and efficiently.

We'll address common injuries such as hernias, sacroiliac joint problems, and shoulder and wrist pain. You'll learn how to best manage these during a class. We'll also address common misalignments in postures that can lead to injuries. By studying anatomy in an applied way, you'll not only learn a lot about your own body but also gain tools to effectively guide others.

Vinyasa Krama Sequencing: lesson structure

You'll learn how to structure a yoga class safely and effectively, leaving room for your own creativity. You'll create classes that reconnect people with their own nature. During this training, you'll work with the "DIY sequence" developed by Daphne Koken: an intelligent "do-it-yourself" system consisting of building blocks that allow you to create yoga classes at different levels and with different themes as a starting point. From this system, you can make your own choices that are safe, varied, and creative. By the end of the training, you'll be able to create classes for beginners and more advanced yogis. You'll also learn how to work towards a class dedicated to, for example, hip openers, balance poses, or twists.

Self-Practice

Personal practice/embodiment: You'll spend many hours on your mat. This will help you learn to teach from a deep connection with yourself and with intention. We'll guide you in building your own home practice, but we'd also love to see you in classes at our Yoga Nature Studio in Maastricht. By seeing you often on the mat, we can better guide you on your path to becoming a vinyasa yoga teacher. During studio classes, we'll focus on your alignment and technique, and we'll provide hands-on support so you can increasingly develop the "embodiment" that forms the foundation of a successful yoga teacher.

Yoga Philosophy

Yoga philosophy is a key pillar of our vinyasa training. You'll gain insight into the historical timeline and the various movements within yoga philosophy. We'll discuss two important, traditional books: the Bhagavad Gita and the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. We'll also delve deeper into the Samkhya philosophy, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, and you'll learn about the energy body, chakras, and nadis. We share philosophy in a hands-on way that brings ancient wisdom to life and makes it applicable for you as a person and as a teacher.

Ayurveda - basic principles

During this 200-hour training, we'll explore Ayurveda and yoga as sister sciences: two sides of the same coin. When we seriously delve into yoga, Ayurveda is an indispensable support, providing insight into how to balance our diet and lifestyle. Optimal health helps us practice yoga with fewer, or even no, obstacles.

We'll explore Sankhya philosophy as a journey from consciousness to matter, with the gunas, the five elements, and the three doshas playing a key role. You'll gain insight into the basic principles of Ayurvedic nutrition and daily routines for yogis.

Teaching Skills

When teaching a yoga class, several elements come together to make participants feel safe, seen, and inspired. Think about how you welcome people and help them land in the moment, the words you choose, and how you guide them from one pose to the next. These are essential skills you'll develop during our training.

You'll learn how to teach authentically and embodiedly, consciously using the space, your voice, your body, and your energy. We'll focus on choosing appropriate music and clearly defining the intention of a class. You'll also gain insight into when to move along or demonstrate, and which tools you can use to guide a group in a safe and supportive way.

This way you develop your own natural teaching style that suits who you are — and the people you coach.

Personal development

This training focuses on your personal development as both a yoga practitioner and a teacher: step by step, you'll find your way, from a solid foundation, to authenticity and your intention as a teacher. The principle of Vinyasa Krama is crucial. You start where you are, even as a teacher. You'll receive personal guidance throughout the entire training process, and we'll constructively motivate you to reach your full potential.
