Frequently Asked Questions about Starting Yoga

What do you need to start yoga?

When you start yoga, it's helpful to have an open, curious attitude. A little patience and perseverance also go a long way. Don't compare yourself to others around you: focus on yourself, your body, and how you breathe. That's what starting yoga is really all about.

Which yoga class is suitable for beginners?

If you're just starting out with yoga, gentle, technically structured classes are best. Our Roots of Flow and Gentle Flow classes are therefore ideal for beginners. They're calm, clearly structured, and help you learn basic poses and breathing techniques. Ayur Yoga and Zen Flow are also great choices if you're looking for gentle and accessible yoga classes.

Do I need to be flexible to start yoga?

Absolutely not. You don't have to be flexible to start yoga. In fact, you'll become more flexible through regular practice. Flexibility develops step by step. Our professional instructors will guide you safely and attentively, allowing you to progress at your own pace.

How often should I do yoga as a beginner?

Once or twice a week is a good start. This gives your body time to adjust, and you'll quickly experience the benefits of yoga, such as increased peace, strength, and body awareness. If you really want to see changes, three times a week is a good start.

What should I bring to my first yoga class?

You don't need anything to start yoga. We have yoga mats, cushions, blocks, and blankets in our Yoga Nature Studio. Wear comfortable clothing and arrive a little early so you can relax with a cup of tea in our cozy lounge.

Can I do yoga if I have injuries or am pregnant?

Yes, yoga can be supportive, but it's important to let the teacher know beforehand. This way, the class can be adapted to your situation and you can practice safely.

Is yoga just relaxation or also physical?

Both. Depending on the class, yoga can be relaxing, strengthening, dynamic, or meditative. Many people experience a combination of physical strength, mental peace, and increased energy. We offer a beautiful, varied selection of yoga classes, each with its own focus. You can build strength, stability, and energy, flexibility and softness, or mental peace.

Am I too old (or too young) to start yoga?

Yoga is suitable for all ages. Your motivation and intention are more important than your age. Our classes are varied, so you can take it easy or enjoy a more dynamic experience. Just visit our yoga studio in Maastricht and try out a few classes to see what suits you best.

What if I'm nervous about coming for the first time?

That makes perfect sense, and you're not alone. Our Yoga Nature Studio is a warm, inviting space where young and old come together to practice yoga. You can choose to relax in our lounge or find a mat in peace and quiet. Feel welcome to be yourself and connect with your own nature.
